NOTE: While the Jumpcut site still technically exists, we've decided to list it as discontinued. We did this because Jumpcut no longer accepts video uploads, which defeats the purpose of a video share site. You are still able to watch videos that people have posted in the past, but if you want a place to post your own videos, try one the of the top 3 services: YouTube, Metacafe and Break.
Jumpcut is a well–organized video hosting site with many features. It not only has the features to create and share videos but also many aspects of social networking.
For producers, Jumpcut has a web–based application that will help you create a new movie or mix movies that are already uploaded. The ability to edit, mix and match videos creates a variety of content that you won’t find on other video share websites.
As a viewer, you’ll have to rely on the searchbox and your networks to find your favorite videos; Jumpcut doesn’t sort videos by category.
As we browsed the site, we came across a video that was clearly against their guidelines. It was in the most recent clips section. This tells us that videos are not edited before they go online and Jumpcut relies on users to flag inappropriate videos.
You can access all aspects of the service from your personalized homepage. Here you can find media, groups, photos you have grabbed and more. If you have questions regarding the site, refer to their FAQs page.
