Walt Disney Co. has signed a distribution deal with YouTube that will bring clips from Disney Channel, ABC and ESPN programming to the popular video streaming site.
In addition to professional clips, in-stream commercials, episode recap and webisodes, the Disney content will be housed in a unique commercial-oriented channel separate from amateur, semi-pro and non-commercial video content.
While the deal between Walt Disney Co. and YouTube might hinder a deal for full-episode
distribution by Internet TV site Hulu, it doesnt rule it out. While YouTube generates more traffic and page views, the site has yet to transition from a video clip site, a weakness which Hulu could still exploit to its advantage.
There is still no official word for when the Disney content will appear on YouTube.
