Adobe Story Will Make Online Video Searchable
Buried in last week's hubbub at the NAB about Flash TVs, Adobe also revealed a hot, new item that is sure to change the way we all view video. Literally.
Adobe Story, scheduled for release next year, will have the capability to assimilate the script of any footage. For example, it can break it down by character, key lines, and interactions, and make it searchable for the user. NY Times picked up on this as well.
By pairing metadata to the footage, end users will be able to use Story for online and offline creation, editing and optimization of scripts for films, broadcast and rich media. Futuristic, man. Way futuristic. And definitely useful in many ways even for "just" a viewer.
If testing is successful (currently in private then moving to beta later this year), Flash-based video will be as searchable as any text on a website by 2010, and available to Adobe Labs beta testers by late 2009.
